An Australian guy (John Safran) did something similar for his TV show last year. He went to Salt Lake City and started knocking on doors, dressed as a mormon, and saying things like "I'd like to tell you about atheism", "I came to talk about the teachings of a man called Charles Darwin" and so on.
Needless to say, he wasn't very well received. Hilarious, though.
