Nice article. Not that it'll make any difference, but it is nicely cathartic.
It reminds me of The Emperor's New Clothes.... except so many people have been trained for so long to believe that his nakedness is actually clothing, that they can't see what's right in front of their faces.

Yeah, I doubt it will change many minds, but the frank manner of calling out the insanity of organized religion is beautiful. The parts about Jesus struck a particular chord with me.
Given that many of the people he accuses of being crazy and whoms God he insults, also own guns, I'd say he's a very brave man.
I think he misses the point however. Most people are smart enough to have doubts and question the meaning of their chosen religous texts. They seldom believe everything. The bulk of the people just continue to go along with the game because it offers them a base, a fraternity, a family to belong to and some level of comfort against the inevitiability of death and the randomness of bad luck. The problem is, it's not enough to just tell people they are following the wrong path, you have to show them an alternative path and lead them along it, you also have to comfort people. That's why religions generally hate beer. It pretty much is the solution to mankinds problems.
We need the rest of the world to believe in God so we can control them. Do we really want a world of atheists? I would rather have a bunch of productive morons to believe that they’ll be rewarded for their selflessness in the afterlife. The whole part about fearing Hell so they don’t steal my car radio or rape kids and such is a nice bonus. Just so long as they don’t go around blowing shit up to make God happy.
Are you saying the world is brimming with amoral, sociopathic types who are only kept in line with fairy tales? I don't think many behavioural psychologist would agree.
As Damien said, I don't believe people are inherently evil and only kept in line by religion. That's just what all the religious leaders want you to think, as a justification for their massive deception of much of the world's population. There are plenty of countries which are a lot less religious than the United States, and they generally have lower crime per capita. I'm not saying that removing religion lowers crime, but I am saying that it doesn't appear to raise crime rates.

Apparently you have never run into them, but there are religions that encourage you to question, teach the history of the Bible, encourage daily study of the religious texts, have world views that do mesh with science, and still manage to believe in Christ with all of their heart.
Articles like that one, your post, and the comments are making a TON of assumptions and generalizations. Not that your assumptions aren't true for some people, perhaps even a great number of people -- but wrapping all religious people under that umbrella is just plain incorrect.
Love has practicaly caused ...me to get you destroyed. If I would have hated a little more, just a little more,we would have had a little less trouble...
Sure you got love...Principles!
Dont say, "Hate is my enemy".
"Love is the only weapon", Shit! Bullshit!
Martin Luther King died with love! Kennedy died talking about something he couldn't even understand, some kind of generalised love! And he never even backed it up..he was shot down!
Bullshit, “Love is the only weapon with which I got to fight”.
I've got a hell of a lot of weapons to fight! I got my claws, I got cutlasses, I got guns, I got dynamite, I got a hell of a lot of fight!
I'll fight! I'll fight! I will fight! I will fight! I will fight! I will fight!
Like the fury in the Night!
Hell yes we'll fight!
Let the night roar with it!
Let the night roar.
They know we mean it! We'll kill 'em if they come.
You are at the blog of Damien Katz, who once stole the goatee from a billy goat. He kept it in a Skoal can on his nightstand for years. Then one day, it was gone. Vanished.

Forgot to mention that that was Jim Jones on the Kool-Aid night (Lest you think I've lost it).

And rightfully preserved for eternity by the reverend D Wayne Love and his congregation in the intro of Alabama 3's 'Mao Tse Tung said'.
