My theory is when he was asked what face paint he wanted, he asked for a turtle. He was told they didn't do turtles, so he picked something else, a zombie. Later, when the reporter asked him how he felt, he expressed that he'd rather had been a turtle.

I think it Michael Collins almost nailed it... the kid does have a turtle shell look to the top of his head and sort of resembles a turtle. So it was the news person who made the mistake of assuming he was a zombie and her question sort of stunned the kid.

That little kid, is my brother.

The kid alrady explained that there was a booth close to the face painting place that displayed turtles. He also said he was nervous. The kid is 10.

Well, really, what's not to like?

What's truly surprising is that more people don't randomly respond the same way.

and, plain ol' live turtle ripped out of its shell and skewered.
