Klerfmuffle

Strangely, OS X spell check doesn't recognize kerfluffle as a word, but it does recognize klerfmuffle (suggested after I typed in klerfluffle). But klerfmuffle isn't a word, not even in Google. Until now that is.

I thought it was kerfuffle

Oops, you're right, Kerfuffle it is. But still OS X doesn't recognize it, and suggests klerfmuffle if you type in klerfuffle.

klerf-muf'-fle : noun - when a spell checker suggests a word that doesn't exist as a spelling correction to a word that doesn't exist

ROFLMAO!

Firefox seems quite happy with kerfuffle. I'm not happy that it's installed a spell checker, but I don't ever seem to get a choice any more.

Pidgin installs one as well, and even taunts you at installation time with a checkbox you can't turn off. And Pidgin doesn't like kerfuffle, it thinks it should be ruffle or truffle.

I'm a bit spooked to have encountered the word "kerfuffle" more than once today. The other encounter was at:
