Preschools in/near Piedmont?

Anyone know of a good preschool in/near Piedmont CA accepting applications for January? This is for our 2 year old girl, born Aug 2007.

Damien,

Does that mean that you guys are moving in Piedmont? If so, we'll practicly be neighbors! I am in Blainville, about 15 minutes from Piedmont.

Are you looking for an English speaking place or French wouldn't matter? I think that could be your biggest issue. I can do a quick lookup to see if I can find any available spots for January, but we do have a shortage and sometimes the waiting period is quite long.

Are you looking for a public place (7$/day) or a private place (around $22-$25/day, but tax deductible)?

And to satisfy my curiosity, what the heck are you doing: Quebec in January!!! The coldest month of the winter!!!

Dropo me an email and I'll try to help you as much as I can.

Ben

Damien,

after a very quick Google lookup, I have found this interresting link:

www.weblocal.ca/tags/garderie/Piedmont/page1.html

Let me know if I can do anything else or if you want me to look a bit deeper. I don't mind taking 10-20 minutes for helping a fellow blogger!

Damien,

I just noticed it is Piedmont CALIFORNIA and not Piedmont QUEBEC...

The weather should be a lot nicer in your Piedmont!

Lol...

Good luck with the new job and the new projects!

Heh, too bad Benoit. You should move to the Bay area too :)

That would be great, especially this week: we have a very cold system here in Quebec and we have temperatures around -16 Celsius!!!

I could enjoy the sun and temps above 10 C :P

Hi, Damien: Grand Lake Montessori is a great option as well--grandlakemontessori.com. When we relocated to Piedmont from Washington DC in '96, it was the only child care option that would accept both my diaper-laden 17 month old and my 3 year old for full time care (they have part-time options too). My spouse and I would trade off driving (about 5 mins), park the car, and then walk to "casual carpool" into San Francisco, returning by bus and then to the kids and car home. (My kids are now in high school and at Reed in Portland.) Piedmont has fabulous public bus service (some with WiFi, for instance) but is about 2 miles from two BART stations, so most professionals heading to SF walk to the casual carpool site and return in the evening by bus.

Bananas, Inc. is a great local child care info network in Alameda county; you probably know that we're surrounded by Oakland so many many options are technically in Oakland. I have two clients at piedmontplayschool.org, which is 5 mornings a week. Schools have great after-school options til 6 pm. Email me if you want a copy of a piece I wrote on kids in Piedmont (with links to the local rec department, to the CA schools data sites, etc.).

I'm here until the 26th, so call if you want to have a chat with ground-truth on Piedmont and surrounding areas.

Welcome to lovely California! Sadly I can't help you with any specific recommendations until you get closer to the San Jose / Los Gatos nexus...
